Tapping its potential across delivering digital values and IoT, Akamai Technologies, one of the intelligent edge platforms, has recently announced acquiring Montreal-based Inverse Inc., for an undisclosed amount.

As per credible sources, the potential acquisition is expected to enhance Akamai’s enterprise security capabilities while also bolstering its profile of zero trust and secure access service edge solutions for Internet of Things (IoT).

For the record, Inverse offers a robust data repository and world class algorithms capable of detecting an expansive universe of mobile, IoT, and other device types.

Speaking on the acquisition, Dr. Robert Blumofe, executive VP, platform and general manager, enterprise division at Akamai Technologies cited that by onboarding and integrating the Inverse device fingerprint data source with Akamai’s patent security data from the 1.3 billion device interaction, the company is firm on its belief of creating an industry leading solution to apply zero trust controls and improved security to the comprehensive landscape of devices and workforce.

While on the other hand, President and CEO of Inverse Inc., Ludovic Marcotte rightfully stated that the Fingerbank data lake offers visibility into the device landscape including what the devices are communicating with and analyzing their typical behavior.

He added that with an estimated 41.6 billion internet-connected devices by 2025, the data is highly essential for enterprises so that they can apply the correct security controls.

It has been claimed that the all-cash transaction is not likely to have a material impact on Akamai’s 2021 financial results. Furthermore, the deal is anticipated to reach closure in the first quarter 2021.
