Amazon extends its Prime same-day delivery option to six U.S. cities

Amazon, an American multinational technology company that focuses on e-commerce, digital streaming, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, has reportedly expanded its Prime same-day delivery option to more U.S. cities.

With this move, Amazon’s total number of US cities where its same-day delivery option is operations has increased to a dozen, enabling Prime members to order up to 3 million products from its platform on demand.

As per reports, last year the company introduced faster same-day delivery facility in Dallas, Orlando, Phoenix, and Philadelphia, expanding it to Washington, D.C. and Nashville in November, bringing the total number of markets to six.

However, given to the recent extension, Amazon Prime users in Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, Tampa, Florida, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Houston can now take benefits from the same-day delivery feature as well.

Amazon wrote in a blog post that since launching same-day delivery, they have continued to bring customers additional levels of ease and more delivery options. The decision to speed up same-day delivery is just one example of a delivery innovation that gives consumers more options, speed, and convenience when receiving their packages.

Sources claim that the organization has been planning to expand same-day delivery for some time. However, according to Amazon, the offering was made feasible by the company's investments in several regional "mini-fulfilment facilities."

This corresponds to Amazon’s strong desire to enhance its logistics infrastructure. According to a reliable source, Amazon has been buying up abandoned shopping malls, as many as 25, between 2016 and 2019. It was supposedly aiming to turn old J.C. Penney and Sears sites into fulfilment centers last year.

However, even if such developments have been planned for years, the rollout for additional same-day delivery areas appears to be a move to re-establish trust in the e-commerce behemoth.
