EnfraGen secures $620k for clean energy & water projects in Colombia

EnfraGen, LLC, a developer, operator, and owner of grid solidity and value-added renewable energy infrastructure businesses owned by Glenfarne Group, LLC and Partners Group, have raised around $620,000 on behalf of its clients in a matching campaign for GivePower, a non-profit organization whose objective is to build and deploy solar-powered clean water and energy systems to communities around the globe.

Enfragen, in July 2021, announced the multi-year collaboration and the funding of the first project with GivePower. The first project offered a solar microgrid to power a resident health post, agro-processing facility, and school for the Kogi, a native group living in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia. In January 2022, the project was completed to improve the lives of around 700 individuals.

Since that announcement, EnfraGen has connected and received multiple donations from some leading law firms and international banks.

The group was headed by substantial contributions from Glenfarne Group, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), SMBC Global Foundation, Partners Group, and Milbank LLP. Also, additional contributions from BNP Paribas, Paul Hastings LLP, Scotiabank, White & Case LLP, and Mizuho Americas were made.

GivePower will leverage the funds for developing and building key infrastructure projects across Colombia, including solar water farms, solar microgrids, and other projects focusing on offering access to clean energy and water to thousands of people living in some of the most endangered communities across the country.

The second project funded is also a battery energy storage system and solar microgrid in Coqui, an afrodescendiente" village situated in the department of Choco on Colombia's pacific coast.

This infrastructure will provide clean energy to a local coconut processing unit, one of the most important small businesses and economic and employment activity sources in the community.
