Reliance Brands procures 40% stake in toy biz of Plastic Legno SPA

RBL (Reliance Brands Limited), a part of the Retail arm of the Reliance Industries Limited, and Plastic Legno SPA, a plastic fabrication company, have recently inked a joint venture deal via which RBL will be acquiring a stake of 40% in the toy manufacturing business of Plastic Legno SPA in India.

This investment of RBL obliges two major purposes, transporting in vertical integration for the toy business of RBL and supporting in expanding the supply chain with the vision of long-term interest in creating toy manufacturing in India, said the subsidiary of Reliance Industries recently.

A spokesperson of Reliance Brands Limited, while commenting on the move, said that keeping in mind the length of term vision of the honourable Prime Minister of Atmanirbhar India, this collaboration with the Plastic Legno's deep knowledge in top-class manufacturing toys coupled with the strong foothold in the global retail industry of toy would open up several new doors and supreme opportunities for toys manufacturers in India.

It is essential for RBL to shape design to project capability for gaining strategic advantage over the competition and becoming a catalyst in building a robust toy manufacturing in India for local consumption and global markets.

Furthermore, the Sunino group has been working in the line of toy production in Europe for the last 25 years and owns Plastic Legno SPA.

The group commenced its business in India in 2009, owing to the requirement for building a robust production hub that will serve all the global markets, but more prominently to India's fast-evolving and growing markets.

RBL is also one of the most recognized names in the toy industry with its portfolio of the British toy vendor – Hamleys and a home-based toy brand – Rowan, making it one of the leading toy distributors.

At present, Hamleys holds a global footprint across 15 countries with 213 doors and the largest chain of toy stores in India.
