Revolut, a financial technology company, has reportedly appointed Paroma Chatterjee as its Chief Executive Officer in India. Formerly, Chatterjee served as the Chief Business Officer of LendingKart and has previously played a major role in companies like Airtel Money and Flipkart. She is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Management in Lucknow and was reportedly included among the top 25 women leaders in the financial technology space in Asia.

For those uninitiated, Revolut focuses on money transfer & exchange, wealth management, stock trading, peer-to-peer payments, loans, and cryptocurrency trading, which is unlikely to be offered in India. Founded in 2015 with headquarters in London, the company has maintained a strong presence in various countries and has been targeting to gain a banking license in the U.S. It apparently serves 15 million customers worldwide as well as processes 100 million transactions per month.

As per the statement made by Nikolay Storonsky, Co-founder of Revolut, the digital banking & financial services startup is aiming towards entering the Indian market through an initial investment of $20-$25 million. It has been placing a high emphasis on transforming the process of managing and accessing money in the country by expanding the reach of its services and products globally. Chatterjee is also expected to build and lead its subsidiary in India, hire the team, define & implement business strategy, as well as manage the license applications and other potential acquisitions in the region, he added.

Chatterjee has reportedly shown excitement about joining the team at Revolut and becoming a part of its growth journey. She believes that the region presents one of the largest growth opportunities for the company’s business and is looking forward to forming an exceptionally talented team. This will, in turn, help it continuously develop superlative financial solutions for a wide range of consumers in India.
