Volkswagen reveals all-electric ID. Buzz, recreation of its Minibus

After approximately five years of hinting clues, German auto giant Volkswagen has introduced its long- waited ID. Buzz, an electric version of its famed minibus, and its commercial alternative ID. Buzz Cargo.

According to VW, ID. Buzz's production version will soon be on sale in the last quarter of 2022 in European countries and will be launched in the United States in late 2023. However, Volkswagen still has not introduced the price of ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo.

ID. Buzz is a recreation of the Volkswagen Type 2 Microbus, formally known as the Bulli or Kumbi, introduced in 1950 as its subsequent car model.

The firm claims that the ID. Buzz would be one of its most accepted vehicles and will utilize recycled materials instead of leather and feature a fabric made from 10% ocean collected plastic and 90% recycled PET bottles.

Ralf Brandstätter, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said the ID. Buzz is an honest icon for the electric era. A car, the likes of which can be built by Volkswagen.

In the 1950s, the Volkswagen Bulli mounted for a new feeling of great emotions, automotive autonomy, and independence. The ID. Buzz follows this line of lifestyle with emission-free, fully networked, sustainable, and now ready for autonomous driving.

In line with Volkswagen’s other models in the family of ID., the new electric van will be manufactured in Hanover by Volkswagen commercial vehicles and is based on the Group's MEB (Modular Electric Drive Kit).

Carsten Intra, CEO of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said that both the versions of the ID. Buzz are revolutionary in terms of their sustainability, as well as their manufacturing and shipping has a carbon-neutral footmark. The firm uses secondhand synthetic materials, and the interior is free from any real leather.
